Summer vacation at Nrityalaya started in the first week of April but the dancing duo had their hands full ! Srikanth and Aswathy were in Cleveland , USA , from April 7th to April 20th doing a dance workshop for 16 young dancers selected from all over the USA. The event was under the auspices of Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Committe who have been hosting the music event for 32 years in Cleveland. The dance workshop is a relatively new addition. April 19th was the culmination when the dancers performed along with their teachers at the CSU auditorium.
Performance for SIFAS – Singapore – March 20th 2009

N.Srikanth and Aswathy Srikanth performed at the famed Esplanade Theatre , Singapore , as part of the Annual SIFAS Festival on 20th March 2009. The poems of Mahakavi Subramanya Bharati were performed in Bharatanatyam style in 3 formats, solo, group and dance drama. Smt Roja Kannan and Smt Priya Murle were also part of the production.

A Memorable Evening of Mohiniyattam

On Feb 9 2009, Thiruvananthapuram’s Vyloppilly Samskriti Bhavan was witness to a historic event. Smt Kalamandalam Saraswathy made a comeback to the stage after a break of 16 years. She performed Mohiniyattam along with her daughter Aswathy for an ahour and a half under the auspices of the Mohiniyattam workshop organised by Sougandhika Center for Mohiniyattam.

Mohiniyattam Arangetram

The senior students of Mohiniyattam performed their arangetram on Dec 22nd at Jubilee Hall. The event was inaugrated by Prof. Kalamandalam Leelamma, Dean, Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University. The dancers were Ria P.G., Anjana.S, Swathi Krishna, Drisya.M., Drisya Payyeri, Jyothi Jayakumar, Ashitha.C, Haritha.S.Rajeev, Sreelakshmi.B., and Namitha Boss.
